Bede College travelled to Guisborough from
Billingham to play Prior in a friendly
fixture. The game would provide a good
opportunity for Prior to prepare for their
British Colleges Cup game in two days time.
Bede brought along star player, David Hanson
who also plays National League basketball
but Hanson struggled to find his game in the
early exchanges, as Prior took the lead and
went from strength to strength. James Burton
led the Prior troops as they maintained a
10-15 point cushion throughout the first
three quarters.
Tom Early and Matthew Brown both performed
well at both ends of the court for Prior,
whilst Usman Hussain showed some strong
rebounding, as did Max Horowitz. In the
fourth quarter, Prior slipped into
complacency and allowed Bede back into the
game. Hanson stole the ball three times in
the final four minutes to make for a tense
finale but Prior held on in the end to
record their first victory of the season.
James Burton was awarded the MVP for his
performance and 28 point tally. Early and
Brown with 18 and 12 respectively provided
good support. Hanson finished with 27 for
Bede.
