Deng Delivers For GB
Luol Deng helped Great Britain into the European promotion play offs with an 83-51 devouring of Belarus. Britain led 38-30 at half-time, but Chris Finch's team outscored the home side by a stunning 45-21 in the second half to book a place in next week's play-offs. They will now meet Switzerland at Ponds Forge in Sheffield next Tuesday, with the second leg taking place the following Saturday. Davison Injury Blow
TU Lions guard, Stu Davison will be on the sidelines for between 4 and 6 weeks after fracturing his arm during the A v B game last Saturday. Davison produced one of his best performances with good play at both ends and a 17 point haul to his credit. It all went wrong during the last quarter when he collided with team mate Carlos Alemanno and landed awkwardly on his left hand which led to chipping the radius bone in lower arm. The club will be hoping Stu can heal quickly and get back to his pre season form without missing too many games. Messages of support have been flooding into the message board and has strengthened the special bond within the club.

Cacu on Course!
Carlos 'Cacu' Alemanno dominated the A v B game with his unstoppable driving to the hoop. Alemanno collected a game high 34 points as the 6'10" centre powered his way to the basket time and time again leaving Chris Tappenden and Matthew Norman dazed and confused. To be fair to the B team pair, if it wasn't Cacu it was fellow centre Andrew Marshall, also 6'10" to contend with. Thomson was the main threat for the B team as he collected 31 points including seven 3 pointers.

It was always going to be a one sided affair but as the coaching staff stressed, the result was not important. The opportunity to play as a unit for both sides was the aim, with both units learning to play in different situations. The B team had to learn how to cope in the face of a much stronger team and while the A team found it easier to score, it was the teamwork and intensity that was sought after. Both teams are beginning to understand each other which will make a huge difference in the upcoming league games.

MVP: Carlos Alemanno
Scorers
Lions A: Alemanno 34, Burton 19, Davison 17, Keirl 16, Marshall 10, Whitney 6
Lions B: Thomson 31, Tappenden 6, Peddie 4, Brown 2, Slasor 2, Norman 1

02/09/07
Slasor The Slayer
Alan Slasor produced a memorable performance on his way to collecting a game high 20 points. Slasor's points haul, along with his tenacious defence and good vision helped the Lions Juniors A overcome the B side and earn him the games MVP award. Offering good support was Philip Findlay who chipped in with 14. For the B team Dan Brown hit 14 and Charlie Collins collected 8. The final score was 40-32.

MVP: Alan Slasor
Scorers
Lions A: Slasor 20, Findlay 14, Dodgson 6
Lions B: Brown D 14, Collins 8, Paxton 6, Williamson 2, Burton K 2
