Lions A dominated
this encounter from start to finish, with a
fitter and more energetic A side claiming the
victory. Dan Brown was inspirational as he led
the game in scoring with a massive 44 points.
Brown and Slasor worked particularly well
together, especially on the fast break. The B
team played well in patches but they couldn't
contain the speed of both Brown and Slasor.
Collins and Kara performed well for the B team
with Collins collecting a bounty of rebounds to
provide additional chances and although she
missed on a few occasions, she rounded off a
good game with 16 personal points. Kara made
some good moves throughout the game but his lack
of fitness was evident at times, allowing the
opposition too many fast breaks. In the second
quarter Daniel Paxton halted the A teams fast
break for a while, only for Slasor to step up
with some big jump shots.
In the third quarter
Dan Brown went on a rampage scoring 16 straight
points, all of his teams tally for the third
quarter!
The fourth quarter
was almost too difficult for the B team as they
tired and with only four players due to holidays
and absences there were no substitutes.
The standard of
basketball on display was excellent. The defence
still needs some more attention but offensively
Collins, Kara, Slasor, Dodgson and the
impressive Brown put in performances to be proud
of.
Brown was awarded
the MVP for an all round superb game from diving
for the ball to his massive points contribution.
