TU Lions Female 52-53 TU Lions Juniors

Lions took the opportunity to play a 'friendly' game between the females and juniors due to Pickering being unable to play. The game was thoroughly entertaining and end to end stuff as both sides battled for the Lions Pride!

Patrick O'Connor produced some mesmerizing basketball as he hit a remarkable 26 points in the first half. They 12 year old guard was everywhere, making it very difficult for the females to settle. Cameron Lee was a force to be reckoned with in the centre of the key, which forced Brittany Krimsky to be at her very best, a challenge she seemed to enjoy as she ploughed away at both ends of the court. Krimsky and Charlie Collins are developing a strong link together and were well supported from Lizzy Grant and Katie Lamb, scoring 6 and 4 points respectively.

In the second half, O'Connor struggled offensively with a lot of forced shots not finding the target, but his tenacious defence was still in abundance, leaving the majority of females wondering where he gets his energy from. Stephanie Palmer played really well in the third quarter, hitting two good shots in the only period that the girls out scored the boys 9-6. This was the period in which O'Connor endured a slump and his team mates were struggling also. Cameron Lee saved the blushes and ensure the juniors maintained the lead with two important baskets in the final minute.

The final quarter was as exciting as they come, with Alan Slasor hitting the first basket for Juniors and Krimsky quick to reply. O'Connor then added a further 5 points including an 'And 1' play. Krimsky did her best to give the females the victory and added 11 points in the final quarter but two baskets from Chris Chapman earned the Juniors bragging rights...for the time being!

The MVP was awarded to Patrick O'Connor, who although experienced a third quarter to forget hit a massive 26 first half points, finished with 33, but even more importantly was excellent on defence. The only aspect of his game that needed improvement was the long pass to running team mates and better shot selection when it wasn't working in the third. Brittany Krimsky was also in contention with a good display and some superb individual moves which kept the females close all the way to the final whistle.
