Middlesbrough
Lions will host Westleigh
Warriors this Sunday in their
first National Founders Cup
Fixture at Eston Sports Academy
at 4pm. Spectators are advised
to arrive early as the player
introductions will begin at
3.45pm.
In this dark time of financial
strife across the globe, the
Middlesbrough club are aiming to
provide a fantastic deal for
fans which will provide non stop
family based entertainment on
and off the court at half price
for the whole season. Marketing
Manager Vanessa Richardson
explained "We have halved the
price of admission for those who
bring a voucher and these
vouchers will remain
downloadable online at
www.game-time.co.uk for the
whole season which represents a
major saving for our loyal
supporters."
The Lions are hoping that the
registration forms will clear in
time for their new American
signings, but aside of this the
team is almost at full strength
with the exception of Rob Bryson
who is unavailable. The club
have experienced a number of
problems with illness in
previous weeks but that will
hopefully be behind them as they
look to progress on Sunday.
Prior
to the Westleigh game at 4pm,
there is also a junior U15 game
at 1pm with the Lions hosting
Thirsk Thunder. Spectators are
welcome to watch this junior
game free of charge and show
their support for the budding
stars of the future.
The club made use of the Press
Day to practise their routine
and ensure any hiccups will be
rectified in time for the
Westleigh fixture. The day began
with professional photos being
taken of Lions National League
sides, the seniors and the U15
juniors.
Whilst this was happening the
table officials were being shown
the ropes by Danielle Taylor and
the music and sound effects were
being tested by Principul and
Adrian Bewick respectively. To
add to the entertainment there
were also cheerleaders from
Guisborough Pumas and
photography by Julie Gibson.
This Sunday against Westleigh
will see a VIP lounge installed
on the balcony to overlook the
main court and guests throughout
the season will include Alastair
Brownlee, Kirby & Fallon, Gary
Havelock, the Mayor and the one
and only Brutus Gold! as well as
other local celebrity figures
and community leaders.
Anyone
who was there on the day will
now have an idea of what is in
store for the rest of the
season, as the lights went off
to introduce the teams, the
Lions ran through the tunnel of
cheerleaders to the sound of
'Welcome to the Jungle' played
through the sound system to let
everyone know its approaching
Game Time!
Lions are hoping to attract a
big crowd for their first game
and while everything is still in
the developmental stages, the
ambitions of the club are
already visible and impressive.
